I’ve bought bottled Italian spice – the pre-made kind for years – and I never thought much of it. Now I always make my own Italian seasoning! Try just one time running out of seasoning and you’ll be inspired to find a way to replicate that flavor – which in turn leads you to find something even better.

And now I make my own. Always. I use it in casseroles that just need some seasoning flavor. I use it in my Keto Broccoli / Cheddar Tots and my Stuffed Peppers. I use it to make my own marinara sauce as well.

Mine even looks more “spicy” and it is! Now I’m not Italian, so I’m not sure if it would pass an Italian grandma test. But it makes a very flavorful Italian dish.
What Ingredients Do You Need for Italian Seasoning?
Let’s talk ingredients! I make it simple by using equal parts of oregano, thyme, parsley, onion powder, rosemary and red pepper. Yes, that pepper gives it some heat!

Store the Italian Blend in your Spice Jars
Store it in one of your old spice containers – if you keep your Italian empty, you’re good to go! Use enough to taste, but watch that heat. I unless you like red pepper a lot, then go for it!

Not ready to make it?
Pin it for later!
