When in Jamaica we had the opportunity to go to Scotchies restaurant. It was one of the local flavor restaurants we went to and it’s a must visit if you go to the Island
We went to the back to see how the meats are cooked. Chicken and pork here – (we also tried fish.), slathered in jerk sauce – a special recipe – grilled over pimento logs. It’s hotter than a sauna back there and we watched these guys labor over the heat, making sure the food was cooked. just. right.
The flavor of the chicken has a smokiness unlike anything you get here – and it’s moist, fresh taste had the whole table “awwwwww’ing” with every bite.
We drank a lot of Red Stripe to wash it down – well it’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it…
This is what 13 bloggers can do to a table of food at Scotchies.
A visit to Jamaica isn’t complete without a trip to Scotchies – I know they are located in Montego Bay, Ocho Rios and Kingston. Don’t leave without a little jerk!
I was invited as a guest of the Jamaican Tourist Board who paid for my trip.
