Since we first heard that Universal was opening the Wizarding World of Harry Potter we have wanted to visit that attraction in Universal Studios in Florida. And I mean DYING TO.
A trip to Florida and we had to make it happen.
It did not disappoint. We are all huge fans of the HP empire – books, movies… and I have to admit I got teary as we approached the entrance and saw the buildings and Hogwarts in the background. 100 kinds of EPIC.
What cannot be missed?
The best ride – Forbidden Journey hands down…. in fact best ride in Universal I think. The Express line was not working yet, and there is a crazy long wait, but the queue is fabulously interactive with the talking portraits, holographic visions of Dumbledore and the HP gang. Plenty to entertain you while you wait.
There are other roller coasters too. The girls had a blast on the Flight of the Hippogriff. Yes Maggie had to spell that for me.
Other fun attractions are the train (Platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross Station, yes again I had to ask the kid – which begs the question WHY ISN’T SHE WRITING THIS?)
Some of the architecture was so impressive and signage made you think you were right there in the books or movies.
I know, SNOW IN FLORIDA?
Food was everywhere. We loved the candy store . Did we buy it all? YES! Is it gone already? YES!
We read ahead of time which flavor Bertie Bott’s was which and avoided the Vomit and Boogie, but the Black Pepper was surprisingly good!
You can’t get enough of the Butter Beer too! We tried the frozen and got souvenir cups to take home.
The HP attractions are super crowded and that area fills up first thing/after a few hours there may be a wait. You will be given passes to come back at a certain time. Once in, you may have to wait an hour or two for the Forbidden Journey, but it’s cool and worth the wait. We did not get into Ollivanders which is another long line, but we hear is a cool attraction.
I have to thank the folks at Universal for giving us passes for the day and fun Universal swag. We had a BLAST and can’t thank you enough!
