I’m going to give you some insight into my story because that’s the best way to explain it to you. I’ve got to say that if I wasn’t so into Young Living essential oils, I’m not sure I would have started the Keto diet, and I’m not sure I’d enjoy the Keto diet so much if I didn’t live a Young Living essential oil lifestyle.
I’m going to give you some specific tips to make these two powerhouse lifestyles work together – they are working so well for me!
Chicken, egg, chicken, egg – which came first? In this case I do know which came first. I began my Young Living wellness journey last year, and because I was an emotional hot mess, I focused on emotional support. I diffused oils like Lavender, Joy, and Orange like it was my job. My Stress Away roller ball was never out of reach and applied twice a day. Grapefruit in my soda water, and Cinnamon Bark and Clove in my yogurt were part of my every day. I lived it all and loved it.
I noticed my sleep improving. My cravings all but went away. No more late night eating and no more binge eating. I didn’t run over everyone to get to the coffee in the morning – in fact, some days I forgot to drink it. I was feeling like a human.
A human who was over 100 lbs overweight.
I had to ditch carbs and sugar. It was taking over my life. Finally I felt like I might be able to climb that overwhelming mountain.
Maggie was beginning the Keto diet – something I’d never heard of – an eating plan similar to Atkins which emphasizes high proteins, low carbs and high fats. The goal is to get the body into the state of ketosis so it’s burning fat cells and not lean muscle.
So how do Keto and oils work together for me?
Young Living has a Vitality line that is amazing to cook and bake with and even to ingest. I do it all.
- There’s a lot of prep work involved in meals on the Keto diet, and I don’t have to buy fresh herbs, fruit and go through all that prep work – or use grocery store jars of spices. I’m getting amazing flavor from even one drop from of oils like Oregano, Orange, Rosemary and Nutmeg. You should taste my Cinnamon Muffins Keto style!
- Cleansing is helpful for any weight management program or just body wellness in general, and a drop or two of Lemon Vitality oil in warm water twice a day has become a favorite part of my detox routine (also delish!)
- I can flavor my soda water with oils like Grapefruit Vitality. Hey, even my Grandmother loved eating grapefruit for weight management – I’m just continuing the tradition! We know Grandmothers know best!
- A drop or two of Lemon and Lime Vitalities make the best Keto friendly “fake cheesecake”! I mix heavy whipping cream, cream cheese and Swerve sweetener (I guesstimate the amounts) with a few drops each of the oils and I feel like I’m indulging in the best dessert ever.
Not to mention (well, I’m about to) Young Living has it’s own line of weight management products called Slique.
I’ve been taking the Citrislim every day for over a month and using the Essence oil in my water. And the gum is there in case I feel a craving coming on. There are shakes, tea and bars too. The products are all natural and include some fat-burning benefits as well as energy boosters.
I’m also sticking to my regimen of Cinnamon Bark and Clove – I’d been rolling it with carrier oil over my pancreas for support. And I’m still using Thieves and Frankincense in my immune system support roller. I don’t want to change a thing about my daily regimen.
I don’t miss the carbs. I just don’t. If I do start to miss them, I’ll reassess Keto at that time. Right now I see both as a lifestyle for me.
Oils. Keto. Winning.
