When the Circus Came to Town

Ringling Bros Barnum & Bailey Circus came to town a few weeks ago!

It had been years since we’d been to the circus. In fact I can’t remember when I last took my kids, it had been so long. So when Maggie and I had an open Saturday morning, we made the impulse decision to take Beck since it was 1. in Richmond and 2. Maggie’s birthday weekend (so how can I say no?).

Ringling Bros does a very cool pre-show where you get the opportunity (included in your ticket price!) to walk around the floor for mini-performances, allowing you to see the performers and acts up close. The experience made you feel like you were part of the fun and not just a spectator.

When it was time for the show, we loved the awww factor of the circus animals. And since this is the last year the elephants will be part of the show, we learned a lot about their care and what the future holds for them when they head to an early (and much deserved) retirement.

The circus stunts were crazy! Who wants to be that high in the air? (probably Beck – he loved it)

In fact, he loved it so much that he might have grabbed a cat nap.

Or a tiger nap! He woke up just in time to enjoy a snow cone:

If all those attractions weren’t enough, we were also treated to the dancers, magicians, clowns and the Ringmaster. There was always something fun or thrilling going on!

It was the greatest show… that we’d seen since Disney on Ice. I know it’s a show we’ll want to see when it comes back to town!
