I feel like I’ve tried every moisturizer on the planet. And every one I found had a ton of ingredients that I couldn’t pronounce. Except alcohol. I saw that on a lot of the products and it kind of surprised me.
I kept reading about the skin care support provided by certain essential oils, so I thought why not try to make my own. I had noticed that the salve I made with coconut oil and Pan Away blend and applied it every morning to my jaw area had left that are of my skin smoother than the rest of my face.

I chose the Frankincense and Lavender Essential Oils and Coconut Oil and Shea Butter – but you can use your favorite natural oils (almond, cocoa butter, etc) in the recipe. When it comes to Essential Oils, make sure you are using a Therapeutic Grade Oil. This recipe is adapted from Organic RN.
- Coconut Oil is naturally antibacterial and is and excellent moisturizer.
- Shea Butter is naturally rich in vitamin A and E as well as fatty acids.
- Frankincense Essential Oil can be used to promote radiant skin and smooth the look of healthy skin.
- Lavender Essential Oil doesn’t just smell good, it is good for the skin which is why you’ll find it in so many skin, hair and beauty products.
Lav and Frank Night Cream
1/4 cup Shea Butter We use this brand
1/4 cup Organic Coconut Oil
10 drops Frankincense Essential Oil
5 drops Lavender Essential Oil
1 capsule or 2 drops of Vitamin E (optional)
Heat the Shea Butter and Coconut Oil in the microwave in a mixing bowl until just melted. Remove and let it cool for about 10-15 minutes.
Add the Essential Oils and Vitamin 5 and stir thoroughly. Put the bowl in the freezer for about 10 minutes or until parts begin to solidify. Don’t leave it in too long!
Mix with hand or stand mixer until nice and fluffy – like whipped butter. Scoop into your 4oz ball jar (we use these) and keep it with the lid on in a cool dry place. Or you can split it into two 2oz jars (we use these) and give one as a gift!
A few words about Essential Oils. Don’t trust your face to drug or grocery store products. Don’t buy Essential Oils off Amazon. We only use Young Living because they are the only essential oil company that owns their own farms or partners with farms that are willing to live up to their standards for growing, harvesting and distilling.
I buy my Frankincense and Lavender Essential Oils online at Young Living. And as a Young Living Member I can offer you a 24% discount! Check it out here: http://bit.ly/2kv12VT
If you aren’t interested in Frank or Lavender for face cream, do your research to find other oils that are good for skin creams. Some are not suited – Cinnamon Bark for instance is a hot oil that can create sensitivity on the skin if not properly diluted.
