I’ve got to be honest – I didn’t know what this Keto thing was until about a day before I started the diet. Maybe my head’s been in the sand, or maybe I was in too much of a pretzel fog to know what was going on around me.
For those of you who don’t know what a Keto diet is, it’s basically very low carbs, high protein and higher fat. It sounded crazy to me, until I started reading about some of the successes – so I’m giving it a try. So far I’m on day 5 and surprisingly it’s not bad – yet. I had the headache today and some grumpiness. The carb flue hit, but I’m dealing with it.
Many of you know that I’ve recently committed to a healthier lifestyle, beginning by adding Young Living essential oils to my daily regimen. Cravings have been an issue for me when my job is stressful, and on top of that, I’m pre-diabetic, so I know I need some type of diet change. To support my weight management efforts, I’ve added a few of the Young Living Vitality oils, mainly grapefruit (in my water a few times a day) and cinnamon bark (in my plain greek yogurt) into my diet. I think Keto will go right along with that plan.
You might notice by the date on this post that it’s Christmas time too. I know, I know, why now? It’s probably the best time b/c we have time to think it through. And Maggie found some awesome cookie recipes which may not be cheap (this is the best deal I’ve seen on Almond Flour yet)
I downloaded the Senza app which has been great for calculating my macros. I struggle to get the fat and calories in each day. That carb flu? I found that adding electrolites and bullion to my diet helped a lot. Water is not an issue for me b/c I’m used to drinking a lot of water – I drink it all day long.
I’m not one to weigh myself, so we’ll talk clothing sizes and I’ll keep you posted and share some recipes as well.
