The weather looked like it would be sunny on Saturday, and to celebrate FINALLY having a weekend that’s not all washed up, we decided to drive to the beach for the day.
Have I mentioned it’s been years since I’ve been to the beach and I’ve missed it terribly!
We started our visit with some sea creatures at the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center. It has an amazing variety of aquariums and animal habitats to view and exhibits you can interact with. It’s not a long day – you can spend a few hours and see everything with a toddler. And as an extra, there is a 3D theater as well.
Beck had a great time seeing turtles big and small, fish of all sizes and colors (some that you could walk under and see swim above you – very cool) and even trying to touch a sting ray. Which Mommy did and called it creepy cool.
Lots of family photo opps, which of course Gigi loved. One of our favorites (as you can tell) was getting eaten by a shark.
And there were some fun interactive displays talking both about the wildlife and their habitats. Anytime a 3 year old can push buttons, believe that it will happen. In a few years he may actually be interested in what the button pushing and canister rolling reveals.
We had a ball, loved the visit and will come back the next time we’re at the beach, for sure!
Note: one of our passes was provided as a complimentary media admission.
