Last night was the Opening ceremonies or the 2012 Olympics in London, and what did I do? I gathered my girl friends together for a fun night of food and entertainment. Perhaps I was most excited about the cake I made: red, white, and blue marble cake. It was, to say the least: delicious. Here’s how you can make one for your next patriotic event!

Team U.S.A. Marble Cake

  • 1 box white cake mix and ingredients to make the cake mix
  • red food coloring
  • blue food coloring
  • Icing and decorating icing of choice (i used simple vanilla and red and blue piping)

Preheat oven and mix ingredients according to the box. Then, separate batter into three bowls. Add blue dye to one bowl and mix until your desire hue of blue. Add and mix red dye to another bowl of batter and mix until it’s nice and red. Pour a little bit of white in the pan, but not all. Then pour a little bit of red, then a little blue. Repeat and mix up the order until all batter is in the pan. Bake until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted. Then decorate that cake to your heart’s desire.
