Universal Studios in Orlando has announced two new attractions to open up in the near future.

The first is Despicable Me which replaces the Jimmy Neutron attraction.  They’ve promised LOTS of minions and you know I love my minions.

Guests will experience a high-tech 3-D digital adventure starring Gru, Margo, Edith and Agnes, and Gru’s minions. They will explore Gru’s lair and  secret lab and participate in an interactive dance party where they can show off their best moves. “The ‘Despicable Me’ attraction is the latest example of how we tap into pop culture’s most compelling stories and turn them into extraordinary theme park entertainment,” said Mark Woodbury, president of Universal Creative. “This is a perfect fit for Universal Orlando, and we can’t wait to bring this one-of-a-kind experience to life.”

Spiderman is not new, but merely being revamped.  The attraction will feature all-new digital animation done in 4K high definition — the highest HD resolution available.  I have no idea what that means but I’m guessing it’s going to be crazy cool.

So while part of me secretly wishes they’d just turn the whole park into one big Harry Potter attraction, I can say that the Despicable Me attraction is exciting too.  After attending the blogger press junket and meeting the cast, it’s even cooler to think of seeing it IRL.  Maybe even them!  If you go to the opening or anything and see Julie, tell her I said hi.   I’m sure she’ll remember me!

This all goes down in 2012.  I feel like a kid again!
