Biscuits are something that have a truly southern flair. Growing up we made plain biscuits.  Maybe some cheese… but by today’s standards boring.  People have certainly become creative in their recipes and many of these great ideas are incorporated into a wonderful cookbook I was asked to review (product received gratis).

Southern Biscuits by Nathalie Dupree and Cynthia Graubart is a wonderful compilation of biscuit recipes with easy to follow instructions.  The photos are beautifully presented and add to the awesome win of this cookbook.

And a variety of butters like Citrus Butter, Nut Butter and Orange Glaze

The desserts are divine and go from the traditional to the OMG crazy good idea (any idea what a Biscuit Fried Pie is?)

If I had one complaint it’s that there aren’t more photos (by photographer Rick Mckee) but if there were I would just look at the photos and have never been inspired to make my own traditional biscuits!

    mmmm…num yummy! I haven’t had breakfast yet and I just can’t take it!
