What do you think of Verizon’s mini computer notebook? Sounds good on the surface at only $199, right?

The HP Mini 1151NR features a 1.60GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB DDR2, 80GB HDD, CDMA 2000 1X EV-DO, CDMA 2000 1X EV-DO Rev. A, a 10.1? LED display with a 1024×576 resolution, Bluetooth 2.0, two USB 2.0 ports, 802.11b/g WLAN, Ethernet RJ-45, webcam, VGA port, built-in mic, built-in stereo speakers, SD/MMC card reader, and it comes pre-installed with Windows XP Service Pack 3.

That’s what I’m looking for in a mini…does what I need! And I like the 10.1 inch screen. Perfect size for a mini. The catch here is the data plan. You sign up for new service for 2 years and at say $40 per month you will end up paying a bundle for the notebook over the life of the contract. The upside? Totally portability.

My take on this? If you have other family members who might have laptops, the usb modem might be the way to go, and you can spend a little more on a notebook, say a Dell refurbished one or Acer. If you are single, and all you want is the mini for portability, this Verizon may be the answer for you.  Either way, do the math!

Hubby stared at me as we saw the Verizon commercial tonight after he just spent $800 some on my new Dell he just bought me…Still want to get the mini to hook up via wireless internet around the house or at Wi-Fi hot spots but after being irritated with my current wireless aircard (paying extra in data by going over the allowed download limit with my current provider) I don’t see myself in getting the Verizon bundle version.

I saw that they were doing this deal. Yes, you would pay a bundle for the computer. I bought an acer 10.1 inch and I love it. I use it around our house and hook up at wi fi locations. It does the job, the price was right and it is so portable!

I saw this online over the weekend and was floored by the price..now I see the catch lol

But I agree, total portability! I have the mini acer netbook!! LOVE it..have had it a little over a month..wasn’t sure I’d like the smaller screen..took a little getting used to..I have the 10.1..wouldn’t have the 8.0 lol

It is a powerhouse of a little pc..It has an atom processor in it, smaller than a penny!!!
