My kids are all healthy, thank goodness.  They may not have the best eating habits, but as teens, a few chips and hot dogs here and there are the least of my worries.

When I heard that…

French Fries are the most commonly consumed vegetable by toddlers age 15-24 months and that soda is being served to infants as young as 8 months old…

I had to pick my jaw up off the floor.

Gerber’s Feeding Infants and Toddlers Study (FITS), a groundbreaking study of the dietary patterns and nutrient intakes of 3,000 infants and toddlers from 4-24 months also found that as many as 25% of children did not consume a single fruit or vegetable serving on a given day.

Gerber is dedicated to improving the nutrition and eating habits of your growing children from birth to preschool through the Start Healthy, Stay Healthy campaign. To create your own Start Healthy Stay Healthy pledge, go to http://StartHealthyStayHealthy.com and don’t forget to check out the Start Healthy, Stay Healthy YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/startstayhealthy!

I make home made sweet potato “fries”. Also, I make it a mission to look for sugar. You think peanut butter and jelly is healthy? It’s loaded with sugar. Look for peanut butter and jelly and bread, made without sugar. Let’s teach our children how to live healthy.

I learned that I need more patience and persistance when introducing new, healthy foods to the kiddies. It may take at least ten attempts. I pledge to try a little harder!

picking my jaw up off the floor right now as well! My kids are healthy eaters but we recently added a salad night to our menu plan, where we have big chef salads with low fat dressing, rather than a meat/potatoes meal. They actually like it.
